Mankera district is basically an agricultural area. There are various cotton ginning factories, textile mills, ice factories and cold storages. There are about 108 factories in the district at the end of 1996. The village industry mainly consist of the weaving of coarse cotton cloth, making or ropes, mats, tokras etc. Both men and women are engaged in these cottage industries in the district.
